Is Rice Dream free from dairy, lactose & soya?
Yes, all Rice Dream varieties are free from dairy, lactose & soya

Is Rice Dream free from nuts?
All Rice Dream varieties are free from nuts and are made in a nut free factory, with the exception of Rice Dream Hazelnut Almond.

Does Rice Dream contain corn?
No, all Rice Dream varieties are free from corn – the xanthan gum in the chocolate variety is not made from corn.

Is Rice Dream GMO-free?
All the ingredients and processing aids used in Rice Dream are grown and produced without the use of genetically modified organisms.

Is Rice Dream gluten free?
Most varieties of Rice Dream are gluten free. The only variety that isn’t is Hazelnut Almond Rice Dream, as it contains barley powder. However, although the ingredients in all the other varieties are gluten-free, an enzyme produced from malted barley (which contains gluten) is used during processing and it is possible that minute residual traces of this may remain in the finished product. The maximum possible amount is tiny –  less than 20 parts per million. Even so, those with extreme gluten sensitivity are advised to consult their GP about the suitability of Rice Dream for them.

Where is the rice from that is used to make Rice Dream?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Rice Dream is made from semi-polished Italian rice which, unlike white rice, retains part of the bran. However, as it is insoluble the bran is filtered out during the production process.

Is Rice Dream suitable for vegetarians and vegans?
All varieties of Rice Dream is suitable for vegetarians and vegans as it does not contain any ingredients of animal origin.

Is Rice Dream organic?
Some varieties are produced with organically grown ingredients and others are not. EU organic regulations do not permit products that have added minerals and vitamins to be labelled as organic. All varieties are made with high-quality, natural ingredients.

Why don't we fortify our organic products with calcium and vitamins?

Is Rice Dream low fat?
Rice Dream is naturally low in fat.

Does Rice Dream contain added sweetners?
Chocolate Rice Dream contains added sugar to balance the bitterness of the cocoa powder. All other varieties are free from added sweeteners. The mildly sweet taste of Rice Dream comes from the natural sugars that are produced when the starch in the rice is broken down during the production process.

Is Rice Dream suitable for people with allergies?
Rice is one of the least allergenic of all foods. Rice Dream is free from common allergens such as milk, soya and eggs.  The Hazelnut Almond variety obviously contains nuts, but all the other varieties are produced in a nut-free production plant. Those on a gluten-free diet should note that Hazelnut Almond Rice Dream also contains barley powder.

What is the pH level of Rice Dream?
It is between 7 and 8 for all varieties

Why do we add vitamin D2 and B12 to the calcium fortified Rice Dream varieties?
Vitamin D2 helps the body absorb more calcium more easily and Vitamin B12 is lacking in some vegetarian diets. We use D2  rather than D3 since D3 comes from an animal source and therefore would not be acceptable to the many Dream brand consumers who follow vegetarian or vegan diets.

The rice is first cooked in water, then the insoluble matter is mechanically filtered out. Amylase enzymes from malted barley are then added. These break down the starch in the rice into complex carbohydrates and natural sugars – the process is similar to what happens when cereals are digested in the human body. Sunflower oil and a tiny pinch of sea salt are then added to produce the Original Rice Dream. Depending on the variety, other ingredients such as natural vanilla flavouring, cocoa powder, etc may also be added.

Oat Dream is made  by blending all the ingredients together, with the natural acacia gum being added, acting as a thickener.

First of all the almonds are lightly roasted and then crushed to form a paste. The paste is then blended with the the remaining ingredients.
